On the 14th of June,2019, The Department of International Studies and History(Christ Deemed To Be University)held the inauguration of Academic Initiatives in the KE Auditorium from 2-4pm. The event commenced with the arrival of the Esteemed Guests and the various faculty members of the department. There was a prayer song sung by the Music Club followed by lighting of the lamp. Dr.Vagishwari SP, HOD of the Department welcomed the gathering. Rev.Dr.Fr.Jose CC, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Student Director of the Department invited the gathering and mentioned through his speech of an Article about “The probability of not being what you are today” and said that the biggest challenge to it would be to contribute to the progress of humanity. The Chief Guest of the Day, Dr.John Joseph Kennedy, Dean(Humanities and Social Sciences) inspired the young minds with his thought provoking message. Dr.Madhumati Deshpande, Coordinator of the Department gave us an insight about the New Academic Initiatives that the department is undertaking for the year 2019-20 being, The Civil Services Orientation Programme, Research Based Students Seminar, Panel Discussion, Debates, Student Assistantship, Research Paper/Dissertation Programmes. Followed by an Introduction by Mr.Prashanth Srinivas, An Ex-Alumni regarding the Newest Initiative of the Department – Civil Services Orientation to channelize the vision of various UPSC aspirants. Dr. Stefy Joseph proposed the Vote Of Thanks and the event concluded with the College Anthem.
Through this initiative, The Department tries to set up a benchmark for effortless learning with the right guidance from the teachers and the student’s willingness to grow and learn. This would help in the all round development of an individual.
